Cannabis is one of the most complex plants on the planet. All of the chemical compounds found within the plant – both cannabinoids and terpenoids – require energy for their production. This energy is provided by photosynthesis, which in turn, requires light. As a direct result of its complexity, cannabis requires substantially more light than most other plants. Thus, cannabis grown with a green-house requires supplemental lighting for maximum growth and flower production.
Following strain selection, the grower’s financial success becomes a function of optimising each of the following success factors:
Supplemental lighting will also increase the number of harvests that are possible during the year. Good quality LED grolight can deliver Daily Light Integral (DLI) of 3.0-3.5 per hour with the result that the supplemental lighting requirement during vegetation phase could be as little as 3 hours a day and 5 hours a day during the flowering phase.
Green Power will assume full responsibility for the lighting within the growing facility for the duration of the Subscription and Service Level Agreement. This will include regular walk-throughs with the head grower, pro-active maintenance, dealing with product suppliers when there are lighting failures, etc. The period of the SSLA will generally be 3 or 5 years, depending upon client requirements.
